  1. Since I don’t do social networking or Twitter I will leave a comment saying that my favorite spice would have to be Greek oregano, followed by many more that I love to use in cooking. Thank you for a chance to win.

    • That sounds like a divine combination! I do have a recipe for an orange and cardamon loaf cake on the blog but now you have me thinking about lemon! Thanks so much for joining in – best of luck with the draw!

  2. I’m already following you, Selma, but don’t have Twitter or Facebook accounts. Even if it puts me out of the running – I love cumin, chili, turmeric cardamom and nutmeg and all the other ingredients that I put together to make up a vindaloo. Yumm.
My favourite vegetable is leek. I will always substitute onion for leek. I discovered it in a Lyndsey Davis novel set in Ancient Rome. :)

    • Not to worry, Mary you have got yourself one entry into the draw! I love all those spices too and turmeric is just so good for you. Recently I have started grating the fresh root into a cupful of water together with some fresh ginger and simmering it for 10mns. It’s great in a mug with a little honey. Thanks so much for joining in and good luck with the draw!

  3. Oo my favourite spice has got to be cinnamon, simply due to it’s versatility – frankly I’m a bit addicted to it! It’s perfect in sweet dishes and I have it in my porridge most mornings as it adds a natural sweetness, but I also love it with lamb and in chutneys etc. to have with cheese and cold meat.

    • It’s one of my favourites too – the smell of baked goods with cinnamon drives me crazy!! I also sprinkle it over porridge and I always pop a couple of sticks in when I make Jamie Oliver’s Chicken in Milk too. Thanks for commenting and good luck!!

    • As a result of this post, I have now come to realise that I love far too many spices and herbs and would never be able choose just one. Cumin, I adore! I dry roast a cupful and store in an airtight jar. Love it too! Thanks for commenting and good luck!

    • There is a company called, I think, Llama, who make Spice Drops and cardamom is one of their flavours. I got a sample the other day and am looking forward to trying it out. I love cardamom with rice – the smell of that cooking is terribly comforting for me!! Thanks so much for weighing in!

    • I feel so bad not being able to include everyone – next time I might see if they can sort out an e-book – that way there would be no worries about the mail, the book getting to where it should and in good time!

  4. Oooh, so many wonderful for so many different reasons. Basil would have to be up there as it can be used fresh, preserves pretty well, can add flavour, be flavour or compliment flavour. It’s also so darn pretty to look at!
